Backstage Buzz At American Idol: What's Up With All The Dating Drama?

Just because it's Spring, doesn't mean love is in the air at American Idol! The past few weeks have sparked more than a few dating rumors between the contestants, but Wednesday night's show was laying it on THICK.

Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine have not been able to hear the end of it as fans keep asking if they're more than friends. It doesn't help that Ryan Seacrest won't let it go, but when we caught up with the two after Wednesday night's performance show, they swear there really isn't ANYTHING going on!

"Me and Colton are not together!" Skylar told us. "I think [the rumor] is just something funny.  I'm sure it does get us more votes and we ham it up on TV when we do our duets together. It's just us having fun. We are not dating! No!"

Colton backed Skylar making sure it was clear nothing but friendship was going on between the two.

"I guess it's good TV," he laughed. "Skylar and I love each other to death, but not like that! Our voices sound good together and I think that's the biggest reason they put us together again this week."

Phillip Phillips and Elise Testone are another Idol pair who feel their friendship is being twisted into something it's not!

"They're trying to make romances," Phillip said "I don't know, I think it's all for show. Colton and Skylar aren't dating, me and Elise aren't dating. We're just dueting it together."
